1. About Tradesurv Protect
Tradesurv Protect is an optional guarantee provided by Tradesurv to give homeowners additional peace of mind when using a Tradesurv vetted member.
Where applicable, eligible work carried out by a Tradesurv member may be covered for up to £1,000 against covered issues that arise after the job has been completed.
Tradesurv Protect is not an insurance policy and does not replace the legal obligations of the tradesperson who carried out the work.
2. Eligibility
Tradesurv Protect is only available where:
- the work was carried out by a Tradesurv member in good standing at the time the work was completed;
- the work relates to a residential domestic property within the United Kingdom;
- the work was completed within the previous 12 months; and
- the homeowner can provide reasonable evidence of the work carried out.
Commercial properties, rental portfolio work, new-build developments, and works completed before the member joined Tradesurv are not covered.
3. Cover Provided
Tradesurv Protect may contribute towards the reasonable cost of rectifying defective workmanship, up to a maximum of £1,000 per claim.
Cover may apply where:
- the work is proven to be defective due to poor workmanship;
- the work has not been completed in accordance with the agreed specification; or
- the defect has become apparent within 12 months of completion.
Before any claim is considered, the original Tradesurv member must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and rectify the issue.
Tradesurv may, at its discretion:
- arrange for the original member to return and complete remedial work;
- appoint another Tradesurv member to carry out the remedial work; or
- make a financial contribution towards the reasonable cost of remedial work, up to the guarantee limit.
4. What Is Not Covered
Tradesurv Protect does not cover:
- normal wear and tear;
- lack of maintenance;
- cosmetic issues that do not affect the functionality of the work;
- damage caused after completion (including accidents, storms, flooding, fire, or third-party damage);
- work altered by another contractor before Tradesurv has had the opportunity to inspect it;
- design faults, structural movement, or pre-existing defects;
- materials supplied by the homeowner;
- manufacturer defects covered by a separate product warranty;
- costs exceeding £1,000; or
- indirect or consequential losses, including loss of earnings, accommodation costs, inconvenience, or emotional distress.
5. How to Make a Claim
To make a claim:
- Notify the original Tradesurv member in writing as soon as the issue becomes apparent.
- Allow the member a reasonable opportunity to inspect and rectify the problem.
- If the issue is not resolved, submit a claim to Tradesurv within the 12-month guarantee period.
Claims should include:
- your name and contact details;
- property address;
- details of the tradesperson/company;
- date the work was completed;
- a description of the issue;
- photographs where available; and
- copies of invoices, quotations, receipts, or other relevant documentation.
6. Claim Assessment
Tradesurv will review the information provided and may:
- request additional evidence;

Tradesurv reserves the right to determine, at its sole discretion, whether a claim is valid and whether the issue falls within the scope of this guarantee.

Tradesurv members are expected to:
- carry out work to a professional standard;
- use appropriate materials;
- comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards;
- maintain valid public liability insurance; and

8. Homeowner Responsibilities
The homeowner agrees to:
- provide accurate information;
- maintain the property appropriately;
- take reasonable steps to prevent further damage;
- allow access for inspection or remedial work; and
- not instruct another contractor to rectify the issue before Tradesurv has had a reasonable opportunity to investigate, unless emergency works are required to prevent immediate damage.
